Principals Letter

Dear St Augustines families,
As we near the end of Term 2, I wanted to clarify and explain our process for monitoring progress through assessment and reporting on your child/rens learning across the Semester.
Written School Reports - Next Friday, 20th June, written reports about your childs' learning will be released on PAM, the Parent Access Module. If you are having any trouble logging in please contact Amber in the office.
These reports highlight your child's growth and progress in learning, represented visually with a dot table indicating how their achievement has changed since the last report. There is a general comment from your child's teacher about their approach to learning and general behaviour within the classroom. Each specialist teacher has outlined the topics covered across the Semester in their respective curriculum areas. They have also highlighted work habits, represented visually with a dot table.
Student Led Learning Conferences (15mins) 25-26th June - Families are then encouraged to 'make a time' via PAM through Parent teacher Interview bookings, to come into school and meet with your child/rens classroom teacher/s to thoroughly discuss the remaining curriculum areas. The teacher will also discuss things that can be done to help support areas of need if required. These learning conferences are a valuable one on one time with the teacher to solely focus on your child. It is a time for celebration, discussion on where to next and how to help move your child on and to clarify anything from the written report. Conferences are now available to book on PAM.
Celebration of learning Monday 30th June (2:30pm-4:00pm) At the end of every term we open up our classrooms and invite families in to see the learning that has taken place across the term. This is not a one on one time with the teacher but it gives your child an opportunity to share all the great things that have happened across the term.
HEAD KNOCKS If your child receives a head knock of any sort at school you will be notified and asked to come and collect your child. With all the medical information we now have on concussions we will take ALL head knocks seriously. We are not in any position to deem a head knock as minor. Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
CANTEEN Friday 20th June - the menu has now been loaded to CDFPay. All orders are to be placed through CDFPay prior to 3pm Wednesdays. Children will receive their order at approximately 1.15pm (before 2nd break).
We still need more volunteers to help in our canteen. You can choose to help for 2 hours or 4 hours in the Canteen.
Please consider if you could spare one or two Friday mornings a term.
It is a requirement of our school and DOBCEL that everyone complete this food handling course. It takes about 15 mins.
https://dofoodsafely.health.vic.gov.au/index.php/en/
Certificates to be sent to the school office or emailed to admin@samaryborough.catholic.edu.au
You will also need a current Volunteer (free) or Employee Working With Children Card. See link for further details. https://www.vic.gov.au/working-with-children-check
We thank SUBWAY for their amazing service while our canteen has been closed.

REFLECTION ....Last Sunday was, The Feast of Pentecost. Pentecost (Greek for 50th day) is celebrated by Christians 50 days after Easter, and marks the day that the Holy Spirit became known to the apostles following Jesus’ resurrection.
The Christian celebration of Pentecost originates from a Jewish feast that concluded the 50 days of Passover and celebrated the end of the barley harvest, plus the beginning of the wheat harvest.
Let’s pray that God’s nurturing spirit will challenge and strengthen us to make profound changes in our lifestyles. Changes that will prevent further damage to our environment and restore creation for the common good.
To ponder…
What changes can we make to better care for the gift of creation?
Many blessings,
Mrs Sonia Turner
Principal
Happy Birthday to...

SchoolTV

Because parenting doesn’t come with instructions, SchoolTV is a wellbeing resource that can support you in the challenges relating to modern-day parenting.
This award-winning resource helps build relationships, foster connections, enable understanding and break down barriers to navigate a pathway towards better mental health and wellbeing for young people. It can assist in starting conversations on topics that are sometimes awkward or difficult to tackle.
STAR Students

At St Augustine's we are a SWPBIS school (School Wide Positive Behaviour in School) and we have a STAR culture. STAR stands for:
S - stay safe
T - take pride
A - act justly
R - respond positively
Just like children are explicitly taught academics, acceptable behaviour is also explicitly taught. STAR awards are given at Assembly each fortnight, exceptional STARs are sent a postcard which qualifies them to morning tea with the Principal at the end of the term.
STAR lessons are taught around a nominated behaviour blitz. Children are taught how to be a STAR in all places they go and what the acceptable behaviour looks like. Examples of a lessons: how to stay safe in class, in the library, the toilet, at the bus stop, on the playground or when walking to the swimming pool.
2025 School Fees & Levies
2025 School Fees & Levies - below is the 2025 School Fees & Levies information.
All other fees are to be finalised by the end of November each year unless other arrangments are made with the school office.
All credits have now been applied for valid concession card holder claimants of the government Camp Sports Excursion Fund (CSEF), School Saving Bonus & Family Fee Assistance. If you do have a valid concession card and have not yet claimed, please contact the school office ASAP as applications close 4th July 2025.
We welcome all students and their families who share or respect our Catholic faith, values and traditions. Catholic education is supported by State and Federal funding, with families contributing the balance of the cost of educating their children. At times, some families are unable to meet their commitment to the full costs of education. As a Catholic school system, we ensure fee relief mechanisms are available to support families in time of need. We encourage these discussions on enrolment or as these needs emerge.
Ambulance Cover

Emergency medical transport services are not free and not covered by Medicare. Become a genuine
If your child required an ambulance at school we would not hesitate to call for one before speaking with parents. Without ambulance membership it can be a very costly trip! If your not already covered please consider!

Parking behind the church & tennis courts is STAFF ONLY parking. Please do not use these areas to park or pickup your children. Vehicle movement in and out of these areas means you are driving over footpaths/walkways which both our students and Highview students are using. This creates a potential safety hazard.
Follow road safety regulations, keep driveways clear, check carefully before reversing and avoid letting your children exit or enter a car whilst on the road or stopped at the crossings. Please do not double park. We all want to keep our families safe so your co-operation is appreciated.
Please observe road rules around our school for the safety of all of our children.
* Schools have 40km zone.
* Parking behind the church & tennis courts is STAFF ONLY parking.
